Wrestlers Protest Row: Protesters Move Delhi Court Seeking Copy Of Charge Sheet Filed Against WFI Chief; Deets Inside!

On June 15, the Delhi Police filed a charge sheet against WFI director Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh under IPC sections 354 (criminal force or attack on a lady with the intent to violate her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The female wrestlers went to a Delhi court on Monday to obtain a copy of the complaint made against the departing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. They have accused him of sexual harassment.

All about the chargesheet

On June 15, the Delhi Police filed a charge sheet against Singh, a BJP MP and alleged offender under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with the purpose to offend her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354-D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The complainants’ attorney is instructed to request a certified copy at the court’s copying facility, according to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal, who will review the charge sheet tomorrow.

Vinod Tomar, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)’s (suspended) assistant secretary, was also named on the charge sheet for violating the IPC’s Sections 109 (abetment of any offence, if the act abetted is committed as a result and no express provision is made for its punishment), 354, 354-A, and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Charge against Singh under POCSO Act

Another POCSO Act FIR was filed against Singh as a result of claims of sexual harassment made against him by a young wrestler. She was one of the seven women wrestlers who had accused Singh of harassing them sexually. Both FIRs discuss numerous claimed instances of sexual harassment committed by Singh over the course of a decade, including inappropriate touching, groping, stalking, and intimidation.

On June 15, the Delhi Police submitted a final report on the minor’s case, requesting the FIR be dismissed. In situations where police conduct a thorough investigation but fail to uncover corroborating evidence, a cancellation report is filed. In a shocking admission, the father of the young wrestler told PTI that he and his daughter had made a “false” police report accusing Singh of sexual harassment in order to retaliate against him for what they believed to be injustice done to the young woman. Singh has already been questioned by police twice, and on each time, he has rejected the charges against him and that he is being “framed.”
