Meera’ foray into elections

Meera Munda has emerged as a prominent face in Jharkhand politics, particularly with her recent foray into electoral battles. On October 24, 2024, she officially filed her nomination as the BJP candidate from the Potka constituency (East Singhbhum). Her step set the stage for what was viewed as a high-stakes contest against JMM’s Sanjib Sardar. Unfortunately, she lost to her rival.
Meera’s Campaigning Style

In the days following her nomination, Meera Munda began intensive campaigning across villages in Potka. During these public meetings in late October 2024, she directly addressed people’s concerns, criticizing existing government schemes as nothing more than “paper promises.”

She highlighted key issues such as delayed pensions, in some cases pending for as long as seven months, and vowed to bring greater transparency and efficiency in the delivery of welfare benefits if elected. Her campaign gained significant momentum on November 11, 2024, when she appeared alongside Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty, who campaigned for her in a massive roadshow in Potka.
The event drew considerable public attention and reinforced the BJP’s efforts to consolidate support in the constituency.

She holds a Ph.D. in Hindi from Kolhan University (2023) and has been an active BJP worker since around 2000, especially in the Kolhan region. She is also closely associated with the Saraikela Archery Association, where she has contributed to the promotion of local athletes and tribal sports.
