Samriti DhatwaliaJuly 7, 20250

Pragati Colony and Appendix E-scheme

On the 25th of June 2025, Priyanka Jarkiholi MP, Chikkodi District was seen at the launch of various road developmental works in Rayabhaga assembly of Chikkodi, Lok Sabha.

The whole cost of the developmental work goes up to ₹8 crore. This included road development in villages, and also the development of Bamblawad to Mudhola, Nipani State Highway. At this event, the MP was present with the elders of the village, along with the leaders and activists.

What is Pragati Colony and Appendix E-scheme

Pragati means development and development is the sole basis of this scheme. This scheme comes under the Department of Tribal Welfare, in Karnataka. Pragati Colony is basically for residential areas within a larger town or city. Their e-portal also provides information about the resources of the area.

Appendix E-scheme refers to the supplementary plans related to the Pragati Project. Even the developmental works are also divided into three categories. The first one is Infrastructure  Development which includes roads, water supply, sanitation etc.

The second Social Welfare includes provision of health services, education and financial assistance. And the last Economic development includes supporting local businesses, providing vocational training to improve livelihoods.

About Priyanka Jarkiholi

Priyanka Jarkiholi, was born on 16th April 1997. She is the second youngest MP (the first being Priya Saroj) from Chikkodi Lok Sabha constituency, Belgaum District. She has done her masters from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. She also has a masters degree in business administration from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum Karnataka.

She came into limelight in the year 2024, when she contested the Indian General Election representing Indian National Congress and defeated incumbent and BJP leader Annasaheb Shakar Jhole. She defeated him by a margin of 90,834 votes.

She is the daughter of Public Works Minister and MLA Satish Jarkiholi. Along with that she is also the second leader in the history of the tribal woman MP from an unreserved seat. Kotturu Hariharappa Ranganath was the first tribal leader to win from Chitradurga parliament seat (unreserved) in 1984 Lok Sabha Elections.

After being elected as an MP Priyanka talked about how her winning has become a major reason for completion of all pending development tasks in the state. She also mentioned how her father steered her during the campaign, and he was her biggest supporter.

She also thanked the non-performance of the sitting MP for her win. She talked about how being from a Valmiki community did not have any effect on her, especially in the field of politics. She was happy that no voter dragged the caste issue. She hopes to work on real issues and bring out real solutions.

Along with this, Priyanka makes sure that she is telling people about her works through her social media on a regular basis. She talks about her interactions with the elderlies, the younger generation. She even makes sure to attend the inauguration of  small shops, and also pays her respects at religious places.
