Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Government Terminates DGP Mukul Goel For ‘Negligence’ And ‘Indolence’

Sayani ChakrabortyMay 13, 20220

According to an official statement, the administration of Yogi Adityanath terminated Mukul Goel’s position as the chief policeman in the state of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night.

The administration cited Goel’s “indolence” and “ineffectiveness” as the reasons for his termination. The government of Uttar Pradesh has done something that has never been done before.

UP DGP Mukul Goel removed

Since the current government assumed office, there has been a rise in the number of particularly severe crimes, such as rape and murder. It has never happened before that a director-general of the Police has been dismissed from their position for this particular reason.  The state government of Uttar Pradesh disciplined him by assigning him a subordinate position in one of the state’s civil defence agencies.

The DGP has been accused of shirking his responsibilities, of being unable of performing efficiently in his role, and of displaying a lack of passion for the responsibilities that have been delegated to him by his department. According to those with knowledge of the situation, Goel was demoted because he showed a lack of enthusiasm in the work he was doing for the government.

When CM Adityanath was first brought up in conversation during a meeting, there were more than a few raised eyebrows in the department.

Uttar Pradesh in headline again as Mukul Goel faces ill fate!

In June of the previous year, the Utter Pradesh government selected Goel, an IPS officer who graduated in 1987. At one time in his professional life, he held the position of auxiliary director-general for the BSF.

Goel was born in this city also known as Muzaffarnagar. He has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi (IIT-Delhi).

Mr. Prashant Kumar, who was formerly the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), has been given the additional responsibility of leading the state police force in the interim while a new DGP is selected.

The future director-general of Police will be chosen by the three IPS officials with the greatest seniority at this time. According to the list, the three IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh who have the most years of service under their belts are R. P. Singh, G. L. Meena, and Biswajit Mahapatra.
