Republic Day 2022 Guidelines: Unvaccinated, Children Below 15 Years Not Allowed

Republic Day 2022 celebrations this year comes with new guidelines due to the ongoing third wave of Covid-19 in the country. According to the new rules laid down by the government, unvaccinated people and children below 15 years will not be allowed to attend the parade. Along with this maintenance, a strict COVID-appropriate protocol is mandatory. For example, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and proper sanitization will be carried out for those who will be attending the event. Attendees need to carry their double vaccination certificates. But for children above 15 years guidelines are blurred as their vaccination certificates are not issued till now. On what basis children above 15 will be given admission is yet to be defined.

Republic Day Preparations And Restrictions:

This year, almost 28,000 police guards are deployed in the security duties for the Republic Day celebrations. This tight security system is done keeping in the mind the threats and anti-terror measures. The DCP of Delhi Rakesh Asthana said that a written advisory has been given to the departments involved regarding the route’s restrictions. In order to avoid any inconvenience and confusion, he also informed, “Delhi has always been a target for anti-social and ant-terror activities. This year too, we are on alert.”

Asthana also informed that counter-drone technology is deployed for air security. Along with this, a team is in close connection with the central vista project functioning which is under construction.


Apart from Delhi Police, about 200 teams are on toes from different security agencies. A special advisory by the Delhi Police stating the use of flying sub-conventional aerial platforms is prohibited from January 20 to 15. This includes paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters or para jumping from aircraft.

As far as parking facilities are involved, a very limited facility is made available this year. Delhi Police have requested people to use public transport to commute.
