TMC Wins KMC Elections For The 3rd Time In A Row, Wins 134 Out Of 144 Seats!

Sonia SolankiDecember 22, 20210

TMC wins the KMC [Kolkata Municipal Corporation] Elections for the third time in a row. The victory is a massive with TMC winning 134 seats out of 144. As a result BJP and Independent grabs 3 seats each and INC, Left gets only 2 seats this time. In 2015 TMC won 124 out of 144. Certainly its a great news for the TMC as it leaves behind all the competitors far behind especially the BJP who claims to be the face of the opposition.

An ecstatic Mamata Banerjee, CM of West Bengal thanked the people of the city for this massive victory. She says “I want to dedicate this triumph to the people of the state and Maa, Maati, Manush the Slogan of TMC. Several other parties fought against us, they all were defeated.” She also mentions as this victory will show the way ahead in the direction of National Politics. Mamata Banerjee quotes “to serve the people with utmost diligence and gratitude” while congratulating the winners of TMC.

This year the result in terms of vote share by TMC is huge its 71.95%. Whereas BJP gets only 8.94% less than the Left front which gets 11.13%. The vote share of the Congress is only 4.47% and 3.25% share belongs to the independents. Several first timers including CM’s Sister-In-Law Kajari Banerjee wins from ward no. 73 with 6493 votes and becomes the 3rd member of the Banerjee family to contest an election.

TMC Win In KMC Elections Not Digested By The Opposition:

TMC’s massive victory has been degraded by the opposition parties in the West Bengal Municipal Elections. BJP’s spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya says that “we are surprised to see this result. It is unexpected”. He also adds that The TMC should have won 144 seats given the kind of violence and booth rigging taking place on the day of polling. As per reports two voters received some injuries outside the Taki High School poll booth in Sealdah. For this TMC and Congress are blaming each other. Meanwhile opposition parties like BJP, INC and CPM stages protest in the city at different sites demanding fresh elections to the civic body.
