16 Regional Parties Of The Country Took Donation Of Rs 24.779 Crore Without PAN Details!

In a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), a group working towards reforms in the field of elections, about 16 regional parties in the country have provided information about receiving Rs 24.779 crore as donations without PAN details. According to the information given by the parties to the Election Commission of India, ECI, these regional parties have collected this amount from 1,026 donations during the year 2019-20.

According to the ADR report, between the financial years 2018-19 and 2019-20, in the amount received from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), Samajwadi Party (SP), and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). It has increased a lot. In the financial year 2019-20, the parties which had given information about the maximum donations. Among them, the names of the five major parties are Shiv Sena, AIADMK, AAP, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), and YSR-Congress. Among these parties, the AIADMK and AAP had talked about an increase in their donations compared to the financial year 2018-19.

At the same time, Shiv Sena, BJD, and Yuvjan Shramik Rythu Congress Party have also provided information about the reduction in their donations compared to the financial year 2018-19. The Indian Union Muslim League has reported receiving maximum donations in cash. The Indian Union Muslim League party had collected donations of Rs 4.63 crore. After this, Pattali Makkal Katchi of Tamil Nadu provided Rs 52.20 lakh, LJP Rs 6 lakh, NPF (Naga People’s Front, NPF) Rs 3.92 lakh and DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, DMK) provided information about collecting Rs 29 thousand.

According to the report, 16 regional parties have raised Rs 24.779 crore through 1,026 donations without PAN details. According to the report of news agency PTI, ADR has given this information after analyzing the data given by 53 regional parties. Out of these, only two parties had given details of donations to the Election Commission within the stipulated time. Another 28 parties had provided information with a delay of at least six to 320 days. Not only this, even 23 regional parties had not submitted their reports during the financial year 2019-20.
