Writer Badri Seshadri Arrested In Tamil Nadu over Chief Justice, Supreme Court Over Manipur violence: Checkout Deets!

Badri Seshadri was detained on Saturday for allegedly making “provocative” comments about violence in Manipur during a YouTube interview. Sections 153, 153A, and 505(1)(B) were used by the Tamil Nadu Police to charge him. The Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Manipur violence were the subjects of Badri Seshadri’s alleged “provocative” remarks, according to the Tamil Nadu Police, which led to his detention on Saturday. Seshadri was taken into custody in accordance with Sections 153, 153A, and 505(1)(B), per the police.

In the interview, Badri Seshadri stated, “The Supreme Court has said that if you (government) cannot do anything, we (the court) will. Let’s give a gun to Chandrachud and send him there. Let’s see if he can restore peace.” Seshadri has further stated, “It’s a hilly and complex region and murders will happen there. We can’t stop the violence from happening.” India Today was able to get the First Information Report (FIR) details, which revealed that lawyer Kaviyarasu had filed the case against Seshadri. According to the complaint, the lawyer saw the YouTube interview footage from July 22 in which Seshadri criticized the Supreme Court and Chief Justice Chandrachud.

The DMK government, according to BJP state president Annamalai, is solely reliant on arrests, and she denounced Seshadri’s detention. “Tamil Nadu BJP strongly condemns the arrest of renowned publisher and stage speaker Badri Seshadri by the Tamil Nadu Police early this morning. This corrupt DMK government is relying only on arrests without power to address the views of the common people. Is the Tamil Nadu Police’s job only to enforce the revenge measures of the corrupt DMK government?,” Annamalai tweeted.

Annamalai, the head of the BJP in Tamil Nadu, criticized Mr. Seshadri’s arrest. Mr. Annamalai, who has started a statewide yatra called “En Mann, En Makkal,” claimed in a tweet that the DMK has been focusing on common people for their viewpoints. “The DMK government is unable to respond to the opinions of ordinary people and is resorting to arrests,” he stated. He added, “Does the police department think that implementing the vengeful agenda of the corrupt DMK is their only job?”
