Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were returning to Delhi after attending a big conference of opposition parties in Bengaluru. Rahul Gandhi, a prominent member of the Congress, posted a picture of his mother Sonia Gandhi onboard a plane that had to make an emergency landing in Bhopal on Tuesday night.
Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was spotted inside the rented plane wearing the yellow emergency oxygen mask that lowers down in the event of a flying emergency. “Ma, the epitome of grace under pressure,” Rahul Gandhi wrote on Instagram, along with the photo. According to Bhopal police commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra and news agency PTI, the aircraft made an emergency landing at the Bhopal airport. It was a “priority landing and not an emergency landing,” according to Ramji Awasthi, the airport director. The incident happened as the Congress leaders were en route from Bengaluru to New Delhi.
Following their Tuesday attendance at the opposition parties’ large gathering in Bengaluru, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were taking a flight back to the nation’s capital. “The chartered plane carrying Sonia ji and Rahul ji made an emergency landing because of some technical snag,” senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Women’s Commission chairperson Shoba Oza said. She claimed that Oza and other top Madhya Pradesh-based members of the Congress went to the airport to see the Gandhis before they boarded the IndiGo flight for New Delhi at around 9:30 p.m.
