India’s Covid-19 Vaccination Coverage Is More Than 158.88 Crores, Know The Journey!

Giving information on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that after giving vaccine doses to more than 76 lakh people in the last 24 hours in the country, India’s total covid vaccination coverage has crossed 158.88 crores on Wednesday.

The ministry said in a statement that with the delivery of 76 lakh 35 thousand 229 covid vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s total covid vaccination coverage has reached 158 crores 88 lakh 47 thousand 554 as reported till 7 am today. The ministry further informed that this milestone has been achieved through 1 crore, 70 lakh, 80 thousand 295 sessions in the country.

Vaccination campaign completes one year in the country Along with this, the Ministry of Health further informed that more than 56 lakh precautionary doses (booster doses) of covid vaccine have also been given in the country. The ministry said that 56 lakh 66 thousand 263 precautionary doses have also been given to the people so far.

Out of this, 21 lakh 52 thousand 696 doses were given to health workers, 18 lakh 65 thousand 300 doses were given to frontline workers and 16 lakh 48 thousand 267 doses were given to people suffering from serious diseases above 60 years of age. At the same time, the first dose of 3 crores 73 lakh 04 thousand 693 vaccines has been given to children in the age group of 15 to 18 years. Let us tell you that the covid vaccination campaign in India has completed one year on 16 January 2022.

The vaccination journey started in the country

The vaccination campaign was started last year in 2021 by administering the covid vaccine to health workers. After this, the vaccine was extended to the frontline workers. After this, on March 1 last year, all people above 60 years of age and people above 45 years of age suffering from serious diseases were given the vaccine dose.

After this, it was extended to all people above 45 years of age on 1st April 2021 and then to those above 18 years of age on 1st May 2021. Also, the vaccination campaign for children in the age group of 15-18 years was started on January 3, 2022, and precautionary doses for health workers, frontline workers, and people above the age of sixty were started on January 10 this year.
