CM Arvind kejriwal Questions Modi ‘Silence’ Over Manipur; Stick To Delhi, Says BJP: Checkout Deets!

SHIVANI UJJAINWALAugust 18, 20230

During the Assembly, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “The PM is like a father figure. He turned his back on the daughters of Manipur. You kept sitting in your room. The entire country is asking the reason for the PM’s silence…”. After four of the BJP MLAs were marshalled out, they staged a protest outside the CM’s office in the complex. When Manipur was on fire, he locked his room and sat inside.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, on Thursday questioned the Prime Minister’s “silence” over the escalating violence in the northeastern state of Manipur, claiming that the Prime Minister had “turned a blind eye” to the plight of the people of the state. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addressed the House on the 2nd day of the adjourned sitting of the Delhi Assembly. The sitting was adjourned for a second day and the proceedings were marked by a walkout by the opposition BJP and a protest outside the House.

In a counter-attack, the saffron party accused the chief minister and the AAP government in Delhi of using the assembly for political expediency. The chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, attacked the prime minister for his “silence”.  “The prime minister is like a father figure. He turned his back on the daughters of Manipur… The entire country is asking the reason for the PM’s silence…Whenever there has been a crisis situation over the past nine years, the PM has remained silent.”

He said something along the lines of,  “There was an armed confrontation between the Central forces — Assam Rifles — and Manipur Police, which is unprecedented… The whole world is looking down upon India, the European Parliament has discussed the issue, leaders in the US discussed and condemned it but the Indian PM didn’t speak.”

He also talked about the women fighters who were protesting against the former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brijbhushan Singh. “When they won medals at the Olympics, PM Modi was the first one to click pictures with them. He had told them ‘you are my daughter’. But when they were protesting, he remained silent. At least he could have said, ‘I am there. I will get it inquired into and get people punished’,” stated Kejriwal, adding that the women wrestlers had to go to the Supreme Court to get an FIR registered.
