Gopal Rai, the convener of the AAP’s Delhi chapter, announced that after this, a letter protesting the detention of Sisodia and Jain will be delivered to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In order to gather signatures from the locals, the party launched a door-to-door campaign in all of Delhi’s wards last month. “Our target was to collect 10 lakh signatures and we achieved it on Sunday. Our district incharges, Lok Sabha in-charges, and councillors were involved in the campaign,” Rai said. Everyone knows that Sisodia and Jain were the people who transformed the education and healthcare system in the national capital, Rai claimed.
“Sisodia transformed the government schools while Jain gave the model of mohalla clinics. People are angry at the fact that these people have been put behind bars,” he said during a press conference. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj thanked the people of Delhi for supporting the campaign.
On February 26, the CBI detained Sisodia in relation to allegations of corruption in the creation and execution of the now-cancelled Delhi Excise Policy 2021–2022. The Enforcement Directorate detained Jain in May of last year as part of a money laundering investigation. In February, both left their positions in the Delhi cabinet.
