“Easy To Throw Political Opponents In Jail But…”: Manish Sisodia Pens Open Letter From Prison: Deets Inside!

SHIVANI UJJAINWALMarch 9, 20230

Manish Sisodia stated in his letter that while it is much simpler to put political opponents in jail, delivering high-quality education to children is a challenging endeavour. Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, wrote an open letter on Thursday about the “Politics of Education” vs. “Politics of Jail.” Sisodia has been detained since February 26 after being arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on suspicion of alleged corruption in connection with the Delhi excise policy. Manish Sisodia, who is also a key leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, said that the BJP has a problem with the politics of education as it “builds nations, not leaders”.

Sisodia claimed in the letter that while imprisoning political rivals is much simpler, providing children with a quality education is challenging. He stated that the politics of education are what would shape the world in the future, and while it may not be an easy formula for political success, it is crucial for the advancement of nations. Arvind Kejriwal, the mayor of Delhi, released a copy of the letter on Twitter and stated: “BJP does politics of putting people in jail, we are doing politics of educating children. It is easy to send to jail, very difficult to teach children. The nation will progress by education, not by sending to jail.”

Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal said that the government is doing everything possible to keep his former deputy Manish Sisodia imprisoned. He claimed that when the CBI detained Sisodia, they later discovered no proof to support their actions. He is currently being held by the Enforcement Directorate. Manish Sisodia was arrested earlier on Thursday by the ED in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. Before placing Sisodia under arrest, the ED, which is looking into the money laundering aspect of the liquor policy case, questioned him at Tihar Prison for roughly 45 minutes. The news was announced a day before his bail hearing in the CBI-filed liquor policy case.

On February 26, Sisodia was detained by the CBI on suspicion of corruption in connection with the development and implementation of the Delhi excise or liquor policy for 2021–2022, which was subsequently scrapped. He will remain in jail until March 20. Sisodia, however, has submitted a bail application, which will be considered on March 10. While Sisodia was in detention, the CBI questioned him about the alleged manipulation of the excise policy together with his former secretary C Arvind and the former Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna.
