PM Chairs Covid-19 Review Meet: Focus On Health Infrastructure And Vaccination Drive

PM chairs covid-19 review meeting today to understand the situation of the pandemic in the country. The high level meeting aims to understand the preparedness of the health infrastructure and vaccination status of different states. As there is a sharp rise in the number of the cases due to the Omicron variant in the country. So, this meet focuses on this aspect too. The meeting also entitled the importance of testing, tracing, micro containment zones and effective home isolation in asymptomatic or mild cases.

COVID-19 REVIEW MEETING DETAILS:

The meeting was attended by the Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Health and Welfare Smt. Bharati Pravin Pawar, NITI Aayog Health Member Rajiv Gauba, Dr. V. K. Paul Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Balram Bhargava DG ICMR, Dr. Rajesh Gohkale, Secretary Biotechnology, CEO NHA R.S. Sharma and many more eminent personalities. The meeting included a very point to point presentation of the cases increasing across the nation. It also focused on the states which have high positivity rate and infection numbers like Delhi, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and others. Different probabilities of the present situation were also taken into consideration.

During this meet PM says that our focus should be on the infrastructure including ICU beds, Oxygen availability, Covid essential drugs etc at the district levels. He also thanked the doctors and other healthcare workers for putting up tremendous work in these tough times. PM also asked to put more attention towards scientific research and genome sequencing. PM also welcomed the Precautionary Doses step which will be starting from 10th Jan across the nation. The aim of these doses is provide the better safety net for health workers which are always on high risk in this pandemic. Along with this he also said that we need to focus on non-covid conditions and treatment too especially in remote and rural areas.

The status of vaccination was also an integral issue tackled in this meeting. PM applauded the continuous efforts for the vaccination drive. Along with this 31% teenagers getting jabs in one week is a remarkable achievement. He also focused on the rapid vaccination especially in the states preparing for the polls. At the end PM requested to adhere to the covid appropriate behavior wear mask and sanitize with social distancing.
