Hunger Watch Report : 66% Families’ Income Suffer Loss; 25% Have Severe Food Insecurity Due To Pandemic

A survey conducted by the Right To Food Campaign in association with the Civil Society Organization reveals that 66% of families faced losses due to the pandemic. The Hunger Watch report states that the income of 2/3rd families is decreased in the two years of the pandemic. Almost 60% of people said that their income is reduced by 50% or more in the two years of the pandemic. The survey was conducted in 14 states. It included a total of 6,697 households from low socio-economic strata. Hunger Watch Report Details The report presents some numbers and data which are of major concern in today's society. Fodder Scam: Lalu Prasad Yadav Gets 5 Years Jail Sentence, Rs 60 Lakhs Fine

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the RJD Supremo and former CM of Bihar, gets a life sentence of 5 years by a special CBI court in the Fodder Scam case. Along with this, a fine of Rs 60 lakh has also been charged by the special court. Other 5 convicts have also been sentenced to five years in jail, 32 convicts got 4 years of jail and three convicts got a jail term of 3 years. CBI till now has examined 575 witnesses in the case and filed a charge sheet against 170 people. The trial started in 1996 for the case, which has 99 accused including Lalu Prasad Yadav. The CBI court has fined convicts ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 crore being the highest amount as a fine in this case.
