Delhi Government Launches Initiative For Jobs To Transgender Residents In Hospitality Sector

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was marked Monday between the West district justice Kriti Garg and Lalit Group of resorts for activity and career development in various sectors for transgender residents. To permit and supply job possibilities to the transgender society, New Delhi's West district has established an engagement project called 'Trans-Empower' in association with the Lalit Group of resorts. Through this project, the district management plans to equip partners of the transgender residents with free movement and professional possibilities in hotel management, hospitality and meals and drink benefits. Create Separate Wards For Transgender Inmates In Prison: MHA Writes To States, UTs

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has released an advisory to create exclusive spaces for transwomen and transmen inmates in prisons. This advisory came in the light of providing them with their right to privacy and dignity. In a written advisory to all the states and Union Territories, MHA said prison authorities must respect the self-identity of a person as transgender under the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. The identity must be respected at all times during the admission process, search, medical examination, lodging, clothing, treatment and care, states the Union ministry.
