Rail links between India and Nepal resumed on Saturday till Janakpur Dham, a Hindu pilgrimage site believed to be the birthplace of Sita. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese PM 'Sher Bahadur Deuba' inaugurated passenger rail services between Jayanagar in India and Kurtha in Nepal. This will be the first major line passenger rail service in Nepal. PM Modi said, "Such schemes will make a big contribution to smooth, hassle-free exchanges between the two countries." Railway Ministry officials said that rail connectivity between the two neighboring countries is better for border management and border areas.
