Just a few days from today, September 10 will be celebrated as World Suicide Prevention Day, which aims to prevent suicide, but recently released data shows a sharp increase in the suicide rate. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a total of 1,53,052 cases of suicide were registered in India in 2020, while a total of 1,64,033 cases were registered in 2021, up seven per cent. Maharashtra has the highest number of suicide cases. Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh have been ranked second and third. Suicidal ideation is a common problem and most people feel it when they are going through some stress or depression.
