Human Development Index: India Slips To 132nd Rank Among 191 Countries

In terms of Human Development Index (HDI), India ranked 132nd out of 191 countries in 2021. According to a report released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), India's HDI value is 0.633. In the year 2020, India was ranked 131st with an HDI value of 0.645. According to the report, this can be attributed to the decline in life expectancy. Life expectancy in India has come down from 69.7 to 67.2 years.
