India is home to over 1.3 billion people. One-fifth of the population, or 19.1 percent, is under the age of 25, the highest proportion in the world. But still the voice of youth is missing. However, just 6 percent of India's leaders and ministers are under 35, making them ineligible to be referred to as "young leaders." This is even though 65 percent of its population is under the age of 35. Only 12 percent of the current Lok Sabha is comprised of persons under the age of 35. The lack of excitement, vigor, and energy in the political arena is causing an alarming number of people to abandon their political positions.
