The milestone of getting 50,000 open defecation-free (ODF) plus villages has been crossed by the country. The top-performing states under this programme are Telangana which has 13,960 ODF plus villages, followed by Madras and Madhya Pradesh. In 2020, the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen Phase-II was launched with the aim of ensuring that each one of the villages across the country is declared as ODF Plus by the tip of the year 2024.
