Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 10, 20220

Saxena was named L-G. Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has made new allegations of "indifference" on the part of civil servants in their interactions with leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the ongoing dispute between the Union government and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi government over control over services in the national capital. When It Comes To Defending, Democracy And Western Media Sounds Shady At Times

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 10, 20220

Voting and democratic judgments are often final. Al Gore, a Democratic presidential candidate, branded George W. Bush's Florida triumph a "pregnant chad" in 2000 as per an article published by 'The Nation'. The vote-punching method was at issue. Dimpled or pregnant chads imply insufficient force. This was the most distinguished democracy's election procedure. Paper ballots were still used in USA Presidential election as per India Today, 2016 article. Western media and major NGOs and think institutes continue to defame India as a dictatorship despite its better voting processes and impartial Election Commission. The West accepted authoritarian governments that killed their own people in the name of democracy. China shows how Western democracies trade with tyrants that violate human r...

Tossed Aside: Political Intervention Makes Mushroom Quotas A Mess, Courts Should Stay Out; Analysis

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 9, 20220

Whatever their original motivation may have been, 70 years later reservations are not actually about alleviating poverty. The politics of caste allegations have grown rapidly in recent decades, fueling their aggressive development. As a result, the courts have compounded their actions in a way that follows the political flow, rather than defending the constitutional guardrails on the issue. Despite the high income cap of this quota and its high caste makeup, the highest court affirmed both an EWS quota and an arguable infringement of the 50% lakshman rekha this week. In sum, the four separate interpretations of the EWS ruling have only served to sow further confusion and uncertainty. A regulation passed in Maharashtra last year that favoured the Marathas while increasing the tota...

Saffron won this coastal seat by 9,881 votes. The BJD hasn't lost a state by-election since the 2019 general elections, when it won a fifth straight term as the state's ruling party with a supermajority of 112 in the assembly of 147. Since 2019, it had won every byelection, including the 2020 Balasore Sadar seat from the BJP. Aditi priya singhNovember 8, 20220

Today, six years have passed since demonetisation. Demonetisation was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016. After this, Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes were banned all over the country, which at the time accounted for 86 percent of the entire currency circulation. After demonetisation, there has been a big boom in the digital economy of the country. The number of black money and counterfeit notes has been curbed to some extent, although the problem of black money and counterfeit notes still remains. BJP To Fight TRS In 2023 State Elections, But Bihar Seems A Strong Hurdle To Overcome

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 8, 20220

The results of byelections held in six states reinforce certain long-standing political trends: Telangana is looking like a TRS vs. BJP battle; Bihar's gathbandhan presents challenges for BJP; and Congress's overreliance on Jats isn't working in Haryana. The challenging victory for TRS in Munugode serves as a clear indication of how competitive the assembly elections would be in 2019. Between 2014 and 2019, CM K Chandrashekar Rao continuously engineered defections from Congress, which resulted in a void in the opposition. He now contends with a far more fearsome foe. The BJP has courted disillusioned leaders in both parties by cultivating social segments that feel disempowered by the rise of TRS and fall of Congress. The BJP placed a large wager on Congress import K Rajgopal Redd...

When It Comes To Power Politics, Words Play A Significant Role

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 7, 20220

When morally and ethically damaging phrases are used by political leaders and activists, it is clear that there is a pressing need to examine the semantic role that words play in the public political realm. It's inevitable that the goal of verbal abuse is to disentangle words from concepts. Words are summaries of ideas, and ideas may be either good or bad. Socio-religious obscurantism, for instance, is often expressed through the use of terms that have been created in a group setting. They represent a chilling intolerance of difference and variety. On the other hand, terms like "inequality" and "injustice" draw attention to the need for their opposites. The words have no positive connotation because of the prejudice, hostility, and enmity they inspire. Communal and casteist insults,...
