Bengal By-Elections: Action On TMC MLA For Threatening Voters; Campaigning Banned For Seven Days

Action has been taken by the Election Commission against TMC MLA Narendranath Chakraborty who threatened voters in West Bengal during the by-elections. The Election Commission has barred Narendranath from campaigning for seven days. They will not be able to do any kind of election campaign from 10 am on March 30 to 8 pm on April 6. They will not be allowed to hold any kind of public meetings, rallies, roadshows. A video of Trinamool Congress MLA Narendra Nath Chakraborty had surfaced amid the Asansol by-election in West Bengal. At least 34 people from outside of Jammu and Kashmir have bought properties in the Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370, Union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Jammu and Kashmir was given special status under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. Taking an important decision, the central government on August 5, 2019, abrogated Article 370 and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Sensodyne Toothpaste Brand Fined Rs 10 Lakh For Misleading Ads

Sensodyne, a leading toothpaste brand, has been issued a fine of Rs 10 lakh by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA). It has also ordered the discontinuation of some of the misleading advertisements too. Kerala High Court has urged organisations in the film industry on March 17 to constitute a joint committee to handle the sexual harassment cases against women pertaining to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Rubbing Male Genitals Over Underpants Is Rape Under Section 375(B): Meghalaya HC

Meghalaya High Court has upheld the decision that "rubbing male genitals even if the female is wearing underpants is rape." The decision is taken under Section 375(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The bench led by Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice W Diengdoh rejected the appeal and declares the conviction of a rape accused and his sentence by a trial court in 2018. The bench said, "Even if it be accepted that the accused herein forced his organ into vagina or urethra of the victim, despite the victim wearing her underpants, it would still amount to penetration for the purpose of Section 375(b) of the penal code." Keen On Rolling Out Aadhaar Cards For Sex Workers: UIDAI To SC

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has informed the Supreme Court that it is keen to give out Aadhaar Cards to sex workers.  They need to have a certificate from the health department of states or from the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). UIDAI said that no residence proof or identity proof will be mandatory for such sex workers.
