INS Valsura Awarded With ‘Nishaan’ By President Ram Nath Kovind

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Valsura has been awarded the celebrated President’s Colour by President Ram Nath Kovind. It is the best award or honour that is bestowed upon India’s military units. The milestone of getting 50,000 open defecation-free (ODF) plus villages has been crossed by the country. The top-performing states under this programme are Telangana which has 13,960 ODF plus villages, followed by Madras and Madhya Pradesh. In 2020, the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen Phase-II was launched with the aim of ensuring that each one of the villages across the country is declared as ODF Plus by the tip of the year 2024.
