‘Like Saddam Hussein’: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Questions Rahul Gandhi’s Look

Arpita SarkarNovember 23, 20220

In his latest dig at Rahul Gandhi, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said the Congress leader's face has changed. He looks more like Saddam Hussein. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "I told in a television interview a few days ago that there is no problem with Rahul Gandhi's new look. But if you have to change your looks, then at least make it like Vallabhbhai Patel or Jawaharlal Nehru. Even better if you look like Gandhiji, but why do you look more like Saddam Hussein now?" "Congress's culture is not close to India. Their practices are close to those who have not yet understood India," added he. Before 2014, people called it Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi or Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid. Himanta Biswa asked, "Now you think, Ram is a God and who is Babur? Why were their names t...

India, China Among Least Receptive To Embrace Flexible Working During Pandemic: Survey

Arpita SarkarNovember 22, 20220

A recent study revealed that Asian businesses that expect their employees to spend their working lives working from the office have declined during the Covid-19 pandemic. More than half of companies on the world's largest continent expected their employees to work entirely from the office before the pandemic began, Bloomberg cited a questionnaire from the US-based education nonprofit Center for Creative Leadership. The survey involved responses from 2,170 business leaders from 13 Asia-Pacific countries. It found that businesses in Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand were most likely to embrace flexible working while China, Japan, and India were the least receptive. The report found that only seven percent of managers expected their employees to work entirely remotely, down f...

No Support, Shashi Tharoor Still ‘Outsider’ For Congress In Kerala: Deets Inside!!!

SHIVANI UJJAINWALNovember 21, 20220

Shashi Tharoor has also irked a sizable contingent of state leaders. If the suggestions from the party about his possibilities if he runs for the AICC president seat are any indication, Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor, a former diplomat-turned-politician, still remains an "outsider" within the Kerala branch of the Congress. While the majority of Congressmen preferred to criticise Tharoor in private, senior Congressman K Muraleedharan, who has been travelling with Rahul Gandhi around the padayatra, told TNIE that only the official candidate would receive the support of the state's leadership. “Tharoor has neither sought the support of the state Congress leadership nor held any talks with the stakeholders here. This reveals the lack of support he has from the state unit,” said Mu

Congress Party Needs To Rethink Why Its Telangana Plan Hasn’t Worked

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 21, 20220

The Congress party's low performance in the Munugode bypoll was expected. A sitting seat was lost in a byelection and the Congress candidate couldn't preserve the security deposit while Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra was in the state. In August, former Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy prompted another byelection. The BJP intends to show that BRS vs. Congress is giving way to BRS vs. BJP in Telangana by using byelections. The state's ruling party, Telangana Rashtra Samiti, has changed its name to Bhartiya Rashtra Samiti. This clever tactic recalls how the BJP used Congress leaders and cadre to oust the CPM in Tripura. The Congress is tumbling like a house of cards in Telangana as the BJP uses a systematic plan to destroy it. BRS, BJP have more resources and fighte...

Underperforming MLAs Should Be Ousted, But Only In Strong-Led Parties

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 16, 20220

The BJP's approach to elections is distinguished by its clinical evaluation of the likelihood of reelection for each existing lawmaker. Fear has spread among several of the BJP's Karnataka legislators after the party lost over 30 sitting MLAs in Gujarat. Only 149 out of 312 UP MLAs from BJP's 2017 triumph were re-elected earlier this year. In general, this is a decent method. As many MLAs run for office under the party's symbol, the party has a responsibility to the electorate not to re-nominate an underperforming member. Keeping the party at arm's length from any local anti-incumbency against the candidate is a plus as well. In most cases, this is possible only for parties with exceptional leadership. It was reported in 2021 that the CPM in Kerala has expelled 38 of its sitting MLA...

BJP Shaken By Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra Says Ashok Gehlot: Deets Inside!!!

SHIVANI UJJAINWALNovember 15, 20220

According to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday, Congressman Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra has rattled the BJP, which has deceived the nation's citizens. Additionally, he stated that it is simple to engage in political activity in the name of a particular religion but difficult to do so when all social groups are considered. He said in reference to the BJP government at the federal level: “These people have misled the people of the country. But now people have understood. You must have felt that earlier in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh… they used to create such an atmosphere in the name of nationalism.” They believe that they are the only patriots and that "we are not patriots at all," Gehlot, a key observer for the Congress in the Gujarat assembly elections in Decemb

The Recent By Election Shows Early Sign Of 2024 Election For BJP And Congress

Sayani ChakrabortyNovember 13, 20220

Except for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, all byelection parties appealed to Indian political dynasticism. In preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections against the BJP, the opposition parties showed their strength in seven by-elections in six states. With a few exceptions, the results were predictable, assuring that legislatures would not alter. BJP retaining Gopalganj (Bihar), Gola Gokrannath (Uttar Pradesh), Dhamnagar (Odisha), and Adampur (Haryana) from the Congress. The RJD retained Bihar's Mokama constituency despite Anant Singh's resignation for corruption. After Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy defected to the BJP, the Munugode byelection was won by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The saffron party's candidate lost by more than 3 percentage points against the ...
