The 1st of January is not only significant as it marks the onset of a new year but also because of the grim tale of tragedy that crippled India. On 1 Jan 1989, Safdar Hashmi was attacked in broad daylight while performing a street play, "Halla Bol" in an industrial township, a few kilometers away from Delhi. An immigrant worker from Nepal Ram Bahadur was also shot dead and lost his life that very day. Later, the following day(2nd January) Safdar succumbed to his injuries. This is tragically poetic that a spectator and a performer both lost their respective lives to this brutal attack. There was a stir in Delhi's Ghazipur Phool Mandi on Friday morning after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found in an unattended bag. Delhi Police's bomb squad reached the spot after receiving a phone call at 10:30 am and evacuated the surrounding area. Following the discovery, the counterterrorism force National Security Guard (NSG) along with special cell officials were also called in. The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) issued notices to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Future Coupons Private Limited (FCPL) to file their reply within 10 days. The notice was issued in light of a hearing a plea filed by e-commerce giant Amazon, challenging the recent order of CCI that suspended its deal with FCPL. The fair trade regulator suspended the approval given to the more than two year old deal with Future Group's company FCPL.
