Sudanese Refugees Get Sexually Abused By Aid Workers In UN Camp

Agamapar ChadhaSeptember 24, 20220

UN Secretary Antonio Guterres has officially requested urgent reports into the allegation of sexual abuse in the South Sudan camp run by the UN. The suspects of this sexual mistreatment are the aid workers of such centres. This maltreatment of the displaced who took refuge in such camps could be traced back as early as 2015 in Malakal, regardless of the UN sending a task force to handle the situation. This involved eight workers being accused of raping minors and pressuring women and girls to sleep with them in exchange for gifts. Joshua Craze, an independent researcher and coauthor of the original report on sexual abuse in South Sudan, commented on the slow nature of the UN addressing this issue by saying, “The basic problem if you look into all this task force set up to prevent...

Neither Hijab Nor Saffron Shawls Allowed: Karnataka Government Tells Supreme Court

Arpita SarkarSeptember 21, 20220

Sayani ChakrabortySeptember 21, 20220

The Indian Army will soon begin an exercise to change the names of some of its units as well as some of its uniforms and traditions. “Shed Colonial Traces, Take Pride In Roots” PM Modi Calls For A Developed India By 2047: Deets Inside!!!

SHIVANI UJJAINWALSeptember 21, 20220

Indian musical instruments in Army bands, new naval ensign, Raj Path renamed Kartavya Path. But one colonial legacy Modi hasn’t shown interest in eradicating is the Police Act of 1861. Forty-five annas worth of goods had vanished from the house in Katra Sheesh Mahal, nestled inside the lanes of Delhi’s Chandni Chowk: Kitchen utensils, women’s clothes, a hookah, and, mysteriously, a bowl of kulfi ice cream. Late in 1861, Maeeduddin Yar Khan, son of Muhammad, walked into the Sabzi Mandi police station, one of three in Delhi, to report the crime. There is no way of telling what the police, over-burdened investigating gambling, prostitution, stolen mules and murders, made of the curious case of the kulfi thief. The crime was, however, recorded in the first-ever First Information Report.
