In his remarks at a post-budget webinar on “Developing Tourism in Mission Mode,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday that improving tourist amenities in the nation would assure an increase in visitors. While he emphasised unconventional thinking and long-term vision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Friday that improving tourist amenities in the nation secured the rise of tourists. 7 crore people visited Kashi Vishwanath Dham last year thanks to the revitalization of sacred monuments, according to Modi. “When the facilities for the tourists increase, then the attraction among the tourists increases. This leads to a huge increase in their number, we are witnessing this in the country,” said Modi during a post-budget webinar on ‘Developing Tourism in Mission Mode’, according to the news agency ANI.

The government is holding a series of 12 post-budget webinars as a way to expand on the “Saptarishi” Objectives established in the Union Budget 2023–24. According to Modi, tourism has a vast reach and is ingrained in Indian culture and heritage. “When we talk about tourism, some think it’s a fancy word & it represents only those who are well-off. In the context of India, the scope of tourism is huge and is a part of our culture & tradition since ages,” added Modi.  “To give a new height to the tourism sector in India, we have to think out of the box and do long-term planning,” stressed PM Modi.

The purpose of these webinars is to gather thoughts and suggestions for the successful execution of the measures outlined in the Budget. They are being organised by various Ministries and Departments. According to the budget, public-private partnerships, a fusion of government programmes, active state participation, and mission mode would be used to promote tourism.

In challenge mode, at least 50 places will be chosen and developed as a full tourism package. To accomplish the goals of the Dekho Apna Desh, sector-specific skill development and entrepreneurial development will be integrated. In addition to the ministers and secretaries of the central ministries in question, the session will be attended by numerous stakeholders from the travel and industry sector, department of tourism representatives, students, notable businesspeople, and educational institutions under the Ministry of Tourism, according to a statement from the ministry.

Attending these meetings would be representatives from organisations like FICCI and CII as well as the leaders of associations representing the tourist and hospitality sectors. They would offer comments and ideas for how to better implement budgetary announcements for the tourism sector. The destination-centric approach to tourism development, convergence – the power of collaboration, strengthening public-private participation in the tourism sector, driving innovation and digitalization in the tourism sector, impacting lives at the grassroots level through tourism, and using cultural heritage for tourism promotion are the themes of the breakout sessions, according to the statement.
