What is the case of Jay Shah?

As the lawyer of Jay Shah did not turn up in the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Magistrate’s court yesterday, the court shifted the case to 16 October for hearing.
Actually, Jay Shah, the son of the BJP President Amit Shah, approached the court and filed Rs. 100-Crore defamation case against The Wire, a news website, which on 8 October 12, 2017 had published an article alleging him becoming rich at a very past pace since the BJP came into power in 2014.
The Wire had published an article The Golden Touch of Jay Amit Shah, written by Rohini Singh, which reveals how Jay Shah’s company’s turnover increased many times in 3 years since Narendra Modi government came in power.
According to the article, his firm, that deals mainly stock trading, rose exponentially from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80 Crore in a single year.
Jay Shah, in the affidavit filed in the court states that as a B.Tech. from Nirma University he possesses an excellent reputation in society and in the business community he has a special reputation as an honest businessman.
The application submitted in the court also states that junior Shah has been associated with several social and cultural activities for a long time.
Apart from a businessman, Jay Shah is the Secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association and a member of the Finance Committee of the BCCI.
