Their number was 72,330. <\/span>7.7% of road accidents occurred at pedestrian crossings in urban areas. Their number was 12,528. 1,62,169 road accidents took place in the urban areas of the country, which is 40.3 percent of the total accidents.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-155589 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000-450x253.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/jpg_20221124_150251_0000-1067x600.jpg 1067w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/>2,40,747 road accidents took place in the rural areas of the country last year. The total number of road accidents during this period was 4,02,116. <span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">48,270 road accidents took place in urban areas where people lived nearby. It was about 30 percent of the total accidents in urban areas.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">Last year, 28,873 road accidents took place near schools, colleges or other educational institutions in the country. Despite all the indicators and measures, expected success is not being achieved in preventing accidents near educational institutions and human loss due to them.<\/p>\n<p>24.4% road accidents took place in Uttar Pradesh last year near schools, colleges or educational institutions in urban areas, which is the highest in the country.<span style=\"font-size: 1em;\"> 9.4% of road accidents occurred near schools, colleges or educational institutions in urban areas in Tamil Nadu in the year 2021. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1em;\">18% of the deaths in Uttar Pradesh were recorded in road accidents near residential areas in urban areas in the past year.
