According to the law, belonging to a prohibited organisation carries a two-year minimum punishment that, in some cases, can be increased to a life sentence or even the death penalty.<\/p>\n<p>A person who &#8220;is and continues to be a member of such association, or participates in meetings of such association, or contributes to, receives, or solicits any contribution for the purpose of, such association; or in any other manner assists the operations of such association shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, and shall also be liable to fine&#8221; is also subject to punishment under Section 10 of the Act.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-154406 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1639573666175.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1639573666175.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1639573666175-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/1639573666175-450x300.jpeg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This also holds true for anyone who advances the goals of the prohibited organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Following the Students&#8217; Islamic Movement of India&#8217;s (SIMI) ban by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration, central agencies and state police have over the years detained hundreds of SIMI members under this clause. State police have also frequently exploited this clause to detain people for supposedly belonging to the CPI, which is prohibited, in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) plagued areas of the nation (Maoist).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-154407 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pfi_1664015414639_1664189008538_1664189008538.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"549\" height=\"309\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pfi_1664015414639_1664189008538_1664189008538.jpg 549w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pfi_1664015414639_1664189008538_1664189008538-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/pfi_1664015414639_1664189008538_1664189008538-450x253.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 549px) 100vw, 549px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the legislation, anyone found in possession of weapons or explosives that causes fatalities, serious injuries, or considerable property damage will be punished by death or, in the event that death has not yet occurred, by imprisonment ranging from five years to life.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Government may, by order in writing, prohibit any person who has custody of any money, securities, or credits that are being used or are intended to be used for the purpose of the unlawful association from paying, delivering, transferring, or otherwise dealing in any manner with such money, securities, or credits or with any other amounts of money, securities, or credits, after an organisation is banned and the Center is satisfied following an investigation<\/p>\n<p>It also grants authorities the right to raid, search, and inspect the financial records of such organisations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-154408 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/ht-pune_04cd74ca-3621-11eb-a00e-2cd7664e001b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/ht-pune_04cd74ca-3621-11eb-a00e-2cd7664e001b.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/ht-pune_04cd74ca-3621-11eb-a00e-2cd7664e001b-300x167.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/ht-pune_04cd74ca-3621-11eb-a00e-2cd7664e001b-768x428.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/ht-pune_04cd74ca-3621-11eb-a00e-2cd7664e001b-450x251.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Center is authorised to &#8220;notify any place which in its opinion is used for the purpose of such unlawful organisation&#8221; under Section 8 of the UAPA.
