But the fact that West Bengal is still far behind the industrialized states of the country in terms of manufacturing mills again came up in the industrial survey of the Center.<\/p>\n<p>A preliminary report of the &#8216;Annual Industrial Survey&#8217; of the Union Ministry of Statistics and Project Implementation has been published. The 2019-20 survey shows that the total number of factories in West Bengal is only 9,650. About 5 lakh 80 thousand workers work in these factories. But there are more than 38,000 factories in Tamil Nadu which are in the first row in terms of the number of factories.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-147042 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1031\" height=\"712\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata.jpg 1031w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata-1024x707.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata-768x530.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata-450x311.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/mamata-869x600.jpg 869w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1031px) 100vw, 1031px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>More than 22 lakh people work in those factories. Surprisingly, the number of factories in Gujarat and Maharashtra is more than 28 thousand and 25 thousand respectively. Between 1.4 million and 1.5 million people work in factories in those states.<\/p>\n<p>This annual industry survey by the Ministry of Statistics surveys factories that employ 10 or more workers in electric machines, and factories that employ 20 or more workers in manual devices. Experts say that it is clear from these figures that there are four times more factories in Tamil Nadu than in West Bengal. There are almost three times as many factories in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Naturally, the factories in these states employ three to four times more people than in West Bengal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-147043 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1031\" height=\"712\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB.jpg 1031w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB-1024x707.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB-768x530.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB-450x311.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.caravanalive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/WB-869x600.jpg 869w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1031px) 100vw, 1031px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is not that West Bengal has produced dazzling results in the pace of industrialization. In the survey of 2018-19, the number of factories in West Bengal was 9,420. In other words, the total number of factories in the state has increased by 230 in one year. The number of employees has increased by only 28 thousand. The amount of new investment has not increased much. Only 18 thousand crore rupees. In comparison, in states like Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka, more than seven hundred factories have been added, someone and a half thousand. Even at a time when the pace of economic growth across the country was not so strong.<\/p>\n<p>The present government has started trying again,\u00a0 &#8220;Economic growth has also increased in West Bengal during the Corona period. West Bengal is one of the six states with a GDP of over Rs 1 trillion.
