As things were on a complete halt with the entire nation being in lockdown and practicing the norms of social distancing, , it’s was, and still is unlikely that anything new will hit the theatre for quite some time now. So when the decision to exclusively premiere the film,’ Gulabo Sitabo’ featuring the two most prominent names of Indian cinema – Amitabh Bachhan and Ayushmann Khurana, via Amazon Prime video on 12th of June,2020 was made, it was on its own terms, and with the best alternatives available.

As today is the day when the film finally made its digital release, “Each film project is a challenge for those that agree to work on it. GiBoSiBo (the short name by which the film is being promoted) was no less,” Amitabh told IANS while talking about the biggest challenges he faced while working on Shoojit’s film.

Though he pointed out how working on the film was a delightful experience by mentioning, “The takeaway — Lucknow the city, the people — an absolute delight to work in and with”, he made sure to point out the hardships that came with playing Mirza, his character in the film, who happens to be a landlord of an old dilapidated ‘haveli’ in the heart of Lucknow. Talking about the same, he said, “Yes (there was) the prosthetic make-up routine each day for four to five hours and its discomfort, the posture of the old Mirza (his character in the film), the extraneous weather of the summer of May. But if you wish to call yourself a professional then it all comes with the territory, and you damn well accept and enjoy it,” he added.
