Such cases of attempting suicide by jumping in front of the Metro train have recently been on an alarming rise. Another case of such an attempt to suicide has come to light today where a 23-year-old civil services aspirant allegedly attempted suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at Karol Bagh Metro Station today morning, the police said. It is disheartening to see the youth of the country taking up such radical steps, wasting the opportunities they are given.

The incident took place at 9:30 am on the Blue Line when the man allegedly jumped in front of a Noida-bound metro as the train was approaching the platform, a senior officer said. The man suffered a head injury and is currently kept under observation at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.


The man hailed the city of Mumbai, he was preparing for civil services examination and living with his friend in East Delhi’s Nirman Vihar, the officer said. “There was a case of attempted suicide at Karol Bagh Metro Station as the train approached a platform, heading towards Noida at 9:30 am,” a senior DMRC official said.

Officials reported that services on the Blue line were disrupted briefly but resumed soon.

The case is going to be treated as an attempt to suicide, but as of now, the man remains under observation.
