While most of us know that popular Bollywood celebs like Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan belong to Pakistan. But there are only a few people who are aware that there are more such popular actors like them who have their roots in Pakistan. Shahrukh Khan

The King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most talked about celebrities in the B-town. The actor was born in a Muslim family in Delhi. However, his roots are in Pakistan as the actor’s father was an Indian independence activist in Peshawar. Also, SRK’s grandfather, Jan Muhammad was told to be an ethnic Pathan from Afghanistan.
Sanjay Dutt

Actor Sanjay Dutt, who is popularly known for his performances in films like ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Sadak’ and ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’, has become a big name in the Bollywood industry. He too is a Pakistani by heritage because his parents, Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt, both belonged to Pakistan.
The Kapoor Khandan

Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and all the other leading stars from the Kapoor khandan have their roots in Pakistan. It is told that Prithviraj Kapoor, who was the first Kapoor to enter the Bollywood industry, was born in Lyallpur, which used to be a municipal administration area in Faisalabad city, Pakistan in 1906.
Amitabh Bachchan

The Big B of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan is one of the most successful celebrities in the Hindi film industry. The actor comes from a Pakistani bachground.  It was reported that his mother, Teji Suri Harivansh Rai Srivastava Bachchan, belonged to a Punjabi Khatri Sikh family from Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. However, she gave birth to Amitabh in Allahabad.
Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan, who is referred as the Greek God of Bollywood, is one of the finest dancers and actors that the Bollywood industry has. The actor was born is Mumbai but his roots are in Pakistan. The actor’s maternal grandfather, J Om Prakash, was born in Sialkot, Punjab and his paternal grandfather Roshanlal Nagrath, was born in Gurjranwala, Punjab.

Gulzar, one of the best Indian poets, lyricists and film directors, was born in Jhelum District in British India (now in Pakistan).  He moved to India along with his family after the partition. He was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2004 which is considered as the third-highest civilian award in India. Other than that he was also awarded with the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which are also some of the highest awards in Indian cinema.

Popular Bollywood star, Govinda rose to fame after performing in a couple of comedy films like ‘Haseena Maan Jayegi’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Coolie No. 1’ and ‘Hero No. 1’. The actor was born to singer-actress Nirmala Devi and actor Arun Kumar Ahuja. Though the actor lives in India but his roots are from Pakistan. Govinda’s father, Arun Kumar Ahuja, was born to a Punjabi family in pre-partition Gujranwala, Punjab.
Dilip Kumar

The ace actor, Dilip Kumar too has his roots in Pakistan. He was born to his parents, Lala Ghulam Sarwar Ali Khan and Ayesha Begum in the area of Qissa Khawani Bazaar of Peshawar, Pakistan.
