Shah Rukh Khan
The Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan is one of the highest paid actors in the film industry. And keeping in mind his high price demand, it is obvious that the budget of the films that he signs is also high. But we never knew that it would be so high that half of the film’s budget would go in buying the actor’s costume.
Yes, you heard that right! In the film Ra.One, the blue body suit that Shah Rukh wore was made in Los Angeles and cost a whopping Rs 4.5 crore. And since the makers had got 20 such bodysuits for the film, the total expense came to Rs 90 crore, which is a huge sum.
Actor Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, popularly known as Rajnikanth, is considered as the God of Indian Cinema. In the film ‘Robot’, Rajnikanth wore an outfit which cost a whopping sum of Rs 3 crore. It was told that his costume was exclusively designed by renowned designers like Mary E. Vogt and Manish Malhotra.
Hrithik Roshan’s film Jodhaa Akbar was a big hit at the box office. Apart from Hrithik and Aishwarya’s chemistry, one thing in the film that grabbed major attention of the viewers was their majestic outfits. The outfits had zardozi details and were studded with diamonds, kundan, and other precious and semi-precious stones. Each of the costumes that Hrithik wore in the film cost the director around Rs 2 Lakhs.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
The Begum of Bollywood, Kareena Kapoor Khan is undoubtedly the most charming lady in the industry. Apart from teaching us some groovy moves, the actress has also given us major fashion goals. Her outfits are always on point, but there is hardly one that we can afford. In her film, ‘Kambakht Ishq’ which also starred Akshay Kumar in a lead role, the actress wore a stunning black sequined dress which had a price tag of Rs 8 lakhs.
Akshay Kumar, popularly known as the Khiladi of Bollywood, is one of the best actors in the film fraternity. The actor, who primarily starred in action films like Khiladi series, Mohra, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Sapoot and Angaaray, has now come a long long way. In his film, ‘Singh is Bling’, the actor wore a Golden Turban for a scene and you’ll be surprised to know that it cost as much as Rs 65 lakhs.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, ‘Padmaavat’ is a visual treat to the eyes. Apart from the majestic frames and phenomenal acting skills of the three lead actors, one thing that also caught everyone’s attention were the heavy costumes donned by Deepika in the film. And you’ll be surprised to know that each costume that the actress donned in the film cost around Rs. 20 lakhs. Also, the 30 kilos red ghagra that Deepika wore in the song Ghumar cost around Rs 30 lakhs.
The controversial queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut wore custom-made latex bodysuits in the film Krrish 2 which burnt a big hole in the makers’ pockets. It was told that each of the costume designed for her was worth Rs 10 Lakh. And since the makers had got 10 such bodysuits for her, the total expense on all her costumes came to around Rs. 1 crore. An insider had then revealed, “All the material for Kangana’s suits was imported from the same place (in France) where Angelina Jolie’s latex suit (for Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life; 2003) came from. Rakesh (Roshan; film-maker) didn’t want to leave anything to chance,”
