In Depth review of the One Plus 5

OnePlus is a Shenzhen based Chinese smartphone manufacturer founded by Pete Lau and Carl Pei in December 2013. It is headquartered in Guangdong. The company serves 42 countries and regions around the world as of March 2016.

For a company that is just 3 and a half years old, One Plus has come a long way in the world of smartphones.
But, does it have what it takes to be the flagship king of the market ?

Camera
Let’s talk about the major improvement from their last year’s flagship, 3T.
OP5 now features a dual camera setup that packs two cameras with both sony sensors and the secondary camera being the telephoto lens that allows the users to capture images in depth effect which we’ve already seen last year on the iPhone 7 Plus.
The primary camera is a 16mp Sony IMX 398 sensor with f/1.7 apperture and the secondary telephoto camera is a 20mp Sony IMX 350 sensor with f/2.6 apperture.
Specs aside, the camera performs really well especially the primary one. It captures enough light in the images which makes the photos look vibrant and well saturated. The telephoto lens however is not upto the mark just yet. We’re sure One plus is soon going to fix that a minor software update.

Performance
When it comes to performance , this phone is no slouch.
It packs top notch specs that a flagship needs, to perform.
The OnePlus 5 has a Snapdragon 835(Octa-core,10nm,up to 2.45GHz)chipset paired with Adreno 540 GPU that is the latest and greatest right now in the smartphone market. You also get an option to choose from 6 or 8 Gigs depending on your preference but 6gb is more than enough for a phone to perform smoothly and snappy. The RAM also helps in smooth UI performance which results in zero lag or stutter.

The OnePlus 5 packs a 3000mah battery that lasts for a really long time and thanks to Dash Charge, you can charge your phone from 0 to 60% in just 30 minutes. But it gets you through a full day on moderate usage.

Design and Display

The OnePlus 5 has been accused of copying the camera layout and design of the iPhone 7 plus but that’s not entirely true because at first glance, it does seem so but once you keep using the phone, you barely notice that.
The design is an all metal finish with antenna bands at the top and bottom
The OP5 has a 5.5 inch 1920x1080p full hd resolution that is one of the best 1080p panels out there. It has a 2.5d corning gorilla glass 5 display that should prevent any scratches.
This AmOled display looks fantastic and the viewing angles are also great.

Software
The OP5 is running on Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box with the Oxygen OS skin on top which is a fairly light skin and doesn’t add much bloatware on top of the android userface. The OS experience is fairly smooth and customizable. It’s stock android with a couple of tricky add ons and customizations.

Final Verdict
If You’re looking for a device with great battery life and fantastic performance, you can never go wrong with this phone.
It also provides a nice camera and OS experience overall which qualifies the OnePlus 5 to be called as “The Flagship Killer”
