Common Admission Test- 2016 results are out and to everyone’s surprise, top 20 scorers are engineers and have got 100 percentile. According to Professor Rajendra K Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016, "However, in the sectionals, many non-engineers and female candidates have scored 100 percentile." The test was conducted on 4th December, 2016 across 138 cities in the country for 1.95 lakhs candidates who took the test. "The untiring support of the CAT Committee, comprising admissions chairpersons of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow, and the tremendous hard work by the CAT 2016 Secretariat at IIM Bangalore played a big role in enabling us to declare the results on schedule," Prof. Bandi said.
There are reports that, there is a substantial increase in the number of female candidates for the CAT Exam."From the period CAT 2010 to CAT 2016, this is the highest number of applicants. While we still have a majority of male candidates (67 per cent), the percentage of female candidates has marginally increased by 1 per cent compared to last year, which is a good sign but not good enough," said Rajendra K Bandi, convenor of CAT 2016, as reported in Hindustan Times.
