Train will run without guards soon

Indian trains will be running without guards in near future. It is going to offer a tender for Rs. 100 crore to acquire special equipments in the place of guards to run 1000 trains at least, as planned.

The new equipment is called End of Train Telemetry (ETT) and is developed to do a guard’s work by providing information to the loco pilot in the need of parting coaches and wagons from the end side of the train.

Each set of ETT will cost Rs. 10 lakh and each set is comprised of two units – first called cab display unit fitted with to the loco and the second is sense and brake unit fitted on the rear wagon of the train.

Radio transmitter will provide the communication between the two units fitted on loco and last wagon.
