Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) members alleged that they were heckled and manhandled by some teaching and non-teaching staffs at the university’s Academic Council meeting held yesterday.

Actually, the unfinished 142nd Academic Council meeting rescheduled to meet on 16th June was invited to discuss the agenda and get passed the agenda items like one controversial issue, MPhil and PhD seat-cut.

As per the allegation of JNUSU president Mohit Kumar Pandey, the Vice Chancellor, presided over the meeting cleared all the items on agenda without registering any dissent from student union members.

“When students and teachers questioned the way all the agendas were being passed without discussion and debate, some stooges of the administration started chasing and heckling the student representatives,” JNU student union president said.

Atul Kumar Johri and Ashwani Kumar Mohapatra are among the professors who are alleged to manhandling with student union students and pushing the agenda items hastily to get passed without being debated.
