Green cars: Recommended to Indian govt. by Niti Ayog

Niti Ayog, the biggest think tank with the government of India has recommended lowering taxes and interest rates for electric vehicles. At the same time, it recommended to cap conventional car’s sales. It signals a swift shift in the policy of India, one of the largest markets of automobiles.

The government is also going to open a battery plant by 2018 and will use the revenue amount earned from the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles in establishing charging stations for electric batteries.

"India`s potential to create a new mobility paradigm that is shared, electric and connected could have a significant impact domestically and globally," said a draft version of the report, titled Transformative Mobility Solutions for India.
