There have been several developments on the Gulshan Kumar biopic front. After Akshay Kumar’s exit from the project claiming differences over the script as the reason, reports suggest Ranbir Kapoor might have signed on the project. On the basis of a report by DNA, Aamir Khan, who is now a co-producer in the film, has offered it to Ranbir Kapoor. The film titled Mogul is going to be a T-Series’ production.

A  report by DNA quoted Bhushan Kumar, head of T Series, saying, “We haven’t finalized the lead, but we will have a younger star in the film.” However, for both Bhushan and Aamir the Sanju star seems to be the ideal choice for the role.

Post the achievement of the Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju, Ranbir’s value in the market has risen up significantly, counteracting his previous movies that were not so box office friendly. The report said Bhushan was thrilled about getting Ranbir for the project because of how talented of an actor he has proved himself to be over the years. There have been discussions between these parties however, no concrete decision has been taken.

Initially intended to be made with Akshay (the first poster of the movie was released with him as the lead), the film came to a crashing halt after the performing artist restored the signing amount with a card to say thanks. Not long after Aamir came in as one of its makers and got writer-director Subhash Kapoor to re-write the script according to Aamir’s vision of the story.

Confirming his exit from the movie, Mogul, Akshay had earlier said: “No I am not part of it. I am not doing it.” He added, “Script pe humari thodi baat… (We did not agree on the script).”

Reportedly, Ranbir and Aamir share a warm and hearty friendship. They met and the Dangal actor persuaded Ranbir to take up the project.
