We have often heard some people say that the star kids in the Hindi film industry are born with a silver spoon as they don’t have to make much efforts to find work and directly get absorbed by the Bollywood industry because of the respect earned by their star parents.
Well, this saying is partially incorrect as even if these star kids come from a ‘filmy’ background’, they too are being judged on the basis of their talent, skills, appearance, and dedication to make it big, just like other non-celeb kids. Also, a lot of times, in spite of being given some stellar launch opportunities, few celeb kids couldn’t give in their best and ended up leaving the industry. So, it is crystal clear that their parents have nothing to do with their growth and success in the industry.
Among these celeb kids, there were some who created their niche in the industry with their talent and skills and are now more successful than their star parents. Any guesses who these star kids are?

Salman Khan and Salim Khan
It was only after director K. Amarnath spotted Salim Khan at a wedding and got impressed by his looks, that the young lad made his way into the Indian film industry and did his first ever film, ‘Baraat’. After making his debut in the industry, he enacted various supporting roles in films, like Teesri Manzil, Sarhadi Lootera, Diwaana, and Wafadar but never got his big cut, so he eventually decided to give up acting. During the shoot of his last film, he met Javed Akhtar and this was when he switched from acting to writing. Though the acting industry didn’t turn out to be Salim’s cup of tea, but it certainly proved to be a lucky option to his eldest son, Salman Khan. When Salman did his first lead role in the film, “Maine Pyaar Kiya”, everyone was left stunned with his acting skills and ever since that day the talented actor has not looked back. At present, the actor is one of the highest-paid actors in the Indian film industry and is giving us Blockbuster-hits year after year.
Shahid Kapoor and Neelima Azeem
Since Shahid’s parents- Pankaj Kapoor and Neelima Azeem, were both seen doing exceptionally well in the acting industry, it was expected that their son, Shahid might also take up acting as a career and prove to be a gem to the industry. After he made his debut with his film ‘Ishq Vishq’, he completely won over people, especially young girls who found him to be too cute. The actor continued to keep his cute image for quite some time but soon proved that he had got some genuine acting skills after he out-performed in his romantic epic, Jab We Met. After that, the actor never looked back and opted to act for a variety of roles in films like, Kaminey and Haider, one of which even earned him the Best Actor award at Filmfare. He did full justice to his character in the film ‘Udta Punjab’ as well and gained enough appreciation for the same. Though his parents were told to be excellent actors of their times but they couldn’t receive as much recognition and fame as he did.
Aamir Khan and Tahir Hussain
Aamir Khan’s father, Tahir Hussain was also from the Hindi film industry, but he could never reach the height of success in the film world like his son did. Tahir, who was also a producer, actor, writer, and director, was only seen on the silver screen performing minor supporting roles in films like, ‘Janam Janam Ka Saath’, ‘Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai’ and ‘Pyar Ka Mausam’. Later, He directed his son, ‘Aamir’ for the first (and only) time in his directorial debut Tum Mere Ho in 1990. And after that, his eldest born only continued to give the industry big hits and today he is tagged as ‘Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood’.
Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik Roshan
Just after doing his first film, ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’, Hrithik Roshan hinted it that he might be new to the industry but he was definitely here to settle as one of the highest-paid actors in the Bollywood. And that’s exactly what he is today. Looking back at his work achievements, we could recollect that he has been a part of some highly acclaimed movies and bagged as many as six Filmfare awards, besides numerous other honours. He is the real dancing king of the Bollywood industry, who has given us some quirky dancing steps to follow. Hrithik’s father’s acting career can nowhere be compared to his as Hrithik managed to leave a major impact as an actor which his father couldn’t, so he opted out of it and turned to directing and producing films instead.
Kareena Kapoor and Babita
Former Indian actress of Sindhi and British descent, Babita Kapoor, who appeared in 19 Bollywood films, was known for her good looks in the industry. She made her debut in the film industry with her film, ‘Raaz’ opposite co-actor, Rajesh Khanna, followed by which she got a series of lead roles in films like, Dus Lakh, Haseena Maan Jayegi (1968), Farz (1967), Kismat (1968), Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati, Doli, Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai, Kal Aaj Aur Kal (1971), Jeet, Banphool and Ek Hasina Do Diwane. In 1971, after acting opposite Randhir Kapoor in the film, ‘Kal Aaj Aur Kal’, she soon got married to him and that was the end of her acting career. But after her two beautiful daughters, Karisma and Kareena had grown into beautiful looking young girls, she made them enter the film world to not let her celluloid dreams die. And surprisingly she even got separated with her husband Randhir Kapoor once as he never wanted his girls to opt acting as a profession. Her daughters, especially Kareena soon created her niche and gave the industry some blockbuster hits. From acing the character of a good-natured, superficial girl, ‘Poo’ in the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam’ to doing full justice to the role of a bubbly girl, Geet Dhillon in the film, ‘Jab We Met’, Kareena has done it all and too with grace. And today the actress has become one of the highest paid actresses in the industry.
